David Choda
Principal Engineer Telecoms, Technical Authority, Network Rail
David has 20 years’ international experience in rail and telecommunication Industry.
Since joining Network Rail in 2015, David was responsible for the telecommunication network architecture team that owned the drive & delivery toward rail digitalisation. Thereafter, as part of the technical authority, he developed the standards and policies for telecom assets. David is also part of Network Rail T190+ R&D programme where he leads the development of future rail telecommunications strategies. He’s currently chairing on behalf of the UK Rail Industry the FRMCS and GSM-R guidance committee (sub-group of RSSB Vehicle / Train Control & Communications committee) to provide the focus for the transition from GSM-R to FRMCS to meet the needs of the Industry supporting delivery of the Rail Technical Strategy.
Previously, he worked at the Belgian Railways as engineering manager for deployment of next generation telecommunication network. He performed different advisory roles in Africa and Asia Railways for their telecommunication deployment strategies. He started his career in Orange Belgium (Mobistar), gaining experience first in network deployment of a mobile and fixed line operator.
